Description of Project

Pakistan

Country

WaterAid is working across the globe to promote key hygiene behaviours such as handwashing with soap, good respiratory hygiene, physical distancing, wearing mask in public places and cleanliness of frequently touched surfaces to prevent the spread of Covid19. In order to make these behaviours sustainable in the new normal context, it is necessary to plan long-term interventions through supporting government and civil society partners. This assessment reflects on WaterAid’s response in Pakistan.  The overall objective of this mid-term assessment is ‘to assess people’s perception about the ongoing hygiene campaign’s content / assets and usefulness’.

Detailed Description of the Actual Services

Services provided by firm: WaterAid hired services of APEX to conduct mid-term rapid assessment. This assessment was mainly quantitative involving a household survey with a sample of 461 male and female respondents, handwashing facilities survey of 92 installed facilities and process evaluation using 8 key informant interviews with national and local representatives, implementing partners, healthcare facility representative and WaterAid staff. Training sessions of survey teams were held in Karachi and Islamabad and survey teams were formed. Fieldwork was carried out from 1 – 8 November, 2020. The collected data was analysed and triangulated to draw results and inferences.
